We were fortunate to have Clarence Ziegler assigned to her case. It was apparent from the start the he was exceptional. Mother was not always eager to begin the exercise routine but each visit Clarence was successful in encouraging her to complete the entire series. Not only did he explain the exercises to her but he took the time to talk with her about some of the other aspects of her life i.e. the importance of wearing the Lifeline button, reminding her about taking her daily medications, teaching her safety tips about walking, etc. Clarence referred me to HCR social worker, Trisha Fast. She visited alone with Mother and then she and I explored options both within and outside of the home. Not only were HCR’s services outlined but Trisha also followed up our conversations with booklets about geriatric/memory clinic resources, Kodak 6000 application forms, etc. Once again this HCR professional extended herself beyond the required service; she reassured me that I am facing a problem for which there are appropriate services...

My mother, Ramonita Delgado has been a client of HCR over a year. During this time all of her Hispanic Team Coordinators have been wonderful and very caring; however, there is one that has stood out. Mark Cuevas, is my mother’s current coordinator, and you should know that he is an exceptional employee. There are so many qualities about him that are outstanding. His communication skills are excellent. He is prompt, courteous, and patient. My calls are always answered without delay and he makes sure to touch base with us to assure that the family is comfortable with the coordinating schedules…I am so impressed with Mark’s extraordinary professionalism and sensitivity. On my behalf and those of my family we want to express how much we appreciate the time and dedication he has put into my mother’s case.

Although we have completed and submitted the customary evaluation, both my wife (the patient in this case) and I felt it necessary to commend Mary…Mary did so well that even our orthopedic surgeon was amazed at the complete rehabilitation results that he witnessed. The movements, the extension and the stretch angles were way ahead of expectations for this short period of time…You are to be commended in having Mary on your staff and we are grateful to have had her as part of the therapy protocol.

My parents are in continuous safe hands with the professional and caring service from my Dad’s nurse Sharon to the daily loving and consistently professional care given by their Aides Donna, Lesha, Joanna, and Tee Tee…Each person I mentioned has a warm and genuine affection for my parents as my parents do for them… Before we had HCR service my life as their daughter was lost. I was doing everything but enjoying my time with my parents. This service has freed me up and enables me to have a less stressed mind to attend to their other needs as Power of Attorney and loving daughter.

It would be very remiss of me to not write and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent care your nurses bestowed upon my mother, Elinor Darling, during her stay in Rochester this summer…They were absolutely wonderful in every sense of the word. Their cheerful smiles (must be a job requirement!), caring ways, and expertise helped to make a painful experience more bearable…Thank you again for all you did for us this summer, and for all you continue to do for others each and every day of the year. You truly do make a difference. We know because we were on the receiving end.

My husband and I have had some health issues this year and have needed home care. I want you to know that the home care we received from HCR was exceptional. Elevelena Jefferson, LPN, was wonderful and so very helpful to Ed along with therapists Elizabeth Galan, PT, Leslie Jablonski, PT, and Keri Finzer, OT. They were all professional, thoughtful, caring and they brightened our lives. I can’t say enough good things about all of them.Thank you for such wonderful service.

Ukrainians Have an Ally in HCR Home CareSince immigrating to the U.S. from Ukraine in 1951, Stephen Syplywyj has kept himself in good shape by exercising regularly and keeping his mind sharp. At 85 years old, he’s still active, but couldn’t escape medical problems typical for a man his age. In June 2009, Mr. Syplywyj needed surgery to repair a hernia. Just this year, he returned to the hospital to undergo a total hip replacement. Both of these surgeries required something he doesn’t typically ask for... help from outside the Ukrainian community.
“Ukrainians help each other; family helps family” said Mr. Syplywyj. “We don’t cry for the small things... we wait and see if the pain goes away.”
But the pain didn’t go away, and Mr. Syplywyj couldn’t wait any longer to repair his hernia or to receive his new hip. He turned to his doctors to fix these problems, and then turned to HCR Home Care for help after surgery.
“My wife and family can only do so much,” said Mr. Syplywyj. “They cared for me as best they could, but I needed the nurses and physical therapists at HCR to truly help me recover.”
HCR Home Care assigned Mr. Syplywyj to its Ukrainian Team. HCR is the only home care agency in Rochester which has Ukrainian nurses and home health aides who speak the language and understand the culture. It made a big difference for Mr. Syplywyj.
Mr. Syplywyj trusted all of the caregivers at HCR to help him get well again, but it was the Ukrainian staff who hold a special place in his heart.
“Being able to speak in Ukrainian was great comfort to me” said Mr. Syplywyj. “I am very happy I turned for help to HCR; I’m so glad they are a resource for the Ukrainian community.”
