Partnering with your medical provider, HCR’s Pain Management Team helps patients break the pain cycle and improve quality of life. The focus of this unique program is reduction of pain signal transmission through desensitization of the nervous system. The result is a break in the pain cycle, elimination of muscle spasm and muscle guarding, and provision of an environment where a reduction of inflammation carn occur.
HCR Physical Therapists use manual techniques, including nerve glides and nerve mobilization, to increase blood flow and reduce restrictions of the peripheral nerves. Glides are motions specific to each individual peripheral never and move the nerve from its most shortened position to its most lengthened position. By gently exposing the nerve to pain-free motion, graded exposure desensitizes the sensitivity of the pain cycle.
Treatment strategies include:
- Soft Tissue Mobilizations
- Joint Mobilizations
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
- Modalities including ultrasound, TENS, and mechanical traction
HCR understands that pain restricts your ability to get up from a chair, walk longer distances, and get out and about. Our Physical Therapists can help you become more independent and resume daily activities such as walking, bathing, and climbing stairs. Our treatment can effectively help restore a valuable part of your life.
"HCR provided home care services to me when I returned home, in Clinton County, after having surgery. I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the services you/your employees provided. The two professionals who worked with me, Pam Hutchins (Nurse) and Thomas Whitcomb (Physical Therapist),were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate at a time when I really needed their help. They were a crucial part of my recovery process. Thanks for having such great people on your team."~ Dawn B.
